Easter is a little later this year, giving us a little more time for crafts, and more time for me to get my Easter baskets together! These days, it seems like there are a million ways to decorate the perfect Easter egg, but I wanted something a little less messy and something more decorative to last around the house through the holiday. Making colorful and easy mosaic Easter egg art as a “stained glass” project is a fun way to decorate your windows or sliding glass doors at home. We paired it together with a fun book to hunt for Easter eggs, Poppy & Sam’s Easter Egg Hunt!
What You Need For Your Easy Mosaic Easter Art
Let’s Have some FUN!
My craft time prep including cutting out some egg shaped rings from construction paper. We went with green and pink, my kids’ favorites. I also picked few colors of tissue paper to cut little mosaic squares.
We pulled up to the counter in our learning tower to create these easy mosaic easter art projects. Cut a piece of contact paper to be slightly larger than your egg shaped ring. After you peel the paper backing off, stick the ring on the sticky side of the paper. Then let the kids go crazy placing tissue paper all over the inside of your egg.
Once they’re done filling in all the spaces, sandwich another piece of contact paper with the sticky side down. Use your scissors to cut away the contact paper to leave you with your beautiful mosaic Easter egg!
Let’s Read our Easter Egg Hunt Book!
I love interactive books that get kids involved in reading. The earlier you can convince children that books are fun, the more likely they will love books and reading as they get older. Poppy and Sam’s Easter Egg Hunt is a small sized book, perfect for little hands with lots of fun features!
Search the book to help Poppy & Sam find the Easter eggs by peeking through cut holes. Run your finger along the brightly colored finger trails, the textured flowers, leaves and feathers. Textures like this book and the touchy feely book featured in my touchy feely easter chick art project are perfect for babies and toddlers as they are learning. Most importantly, there are questions that ask your baby or toddler to think and interact! There is even a little duck to search and find on every page!
We had so much fun exploring the farm in Poppy and Sam’s Easter Egg Hunt to help them find their Easter eggs! It is definitely a perfect addition to Easter baskets, and a perfect pair for creating your own Easter eggs! Making some easy mosaic easter art, coloring your own eggs, or planning an egg hunt of your own would all be fun easter activities to go along with this book!
